Abstract

1,018,967. Clamp fastenings. CABLE COVERS Ltd. July 17, 1964 [July 23, 1963], No. 29113/63. Heading E2B. An anchor grip for use in tensioning a wire, rod or stranded member in a prestressed concrete structure comprises a body 1 formed with a bore having a frusto-conical portion, a wedge device 4 consisting of a plurality of tapered wedge elements arranged adjacent one end of the body and within the frusto-conical portion of the bore to engage the member to be gripped, a detachable plug 10 provided at the other end of the body and a compression spring 9 arranged between the plug and the larger ends of the wedge elements for urging the wedge elements into engagement with the member and a cap member 7 for maintaining axial alignment of the wedge elements arranged between the compression spring and the larger ends of the wedge elements, the cap member being in the form of an annulus which is freely movable in the central bore and is such as to allow free-passage of the member there through. The cap member has a frusto-conical portion to reduce the possibility of jamming in the bore due to tilting or lateral movement. In a modification a circlip or O ring can be provided to hold the wedge elements together.
