An antiseptic guard for a telephone mouthpiece comprises a cap with a resilient skirt and an apertured end wall which has a circumferential rabbet to provide an annular seat for an antiseptic filter unit. As shown, the cap is held in place over a telephone mouthpiece by resilient skirt 7 which surrounds and grips the mouthpiece. End wall 10 has an aperture 11 surrounded by rabbet 12 in which the filter unit is seated. The filter unit comprises an impregnated filter disc 24 supported by fabric discs 25, mounted between two interfitting rings 14, 15. Ring 14 has webs 18 on which are split rings 19 which form chambers for a deodorizing and disinfecting agent. Ring 15, which fits over ring 14, has webs 21 with apertures 22 aligned with split rings 19.
