Abstract
1,014,760. Fluid actuation of switches. ROBERTSHAW CONTROLS CO. May 2 1963 [May 25, 1962], No. 17422/63. Heading H2B. In a pneumatic-pressure operated electric switch comprising a diaphragm 26 with a link 36 transmitting movement to a lever 52, pivoted at 56 and having a detent 62 operating a switch 10, a second lever 54, also pivoted at 56 has a limit stop 72, depending therefrom, which engages lever 52 after a predetermined minimum pressure has been applied to the diaphragm. Springs 96, 98 engaging levers 52, 54 respectively, are compressed by end plates 100, 102 mounted on adjustable screws 108, 106 to provide an operating differential for the switch. In operation, as pressure increases, link 36 pushes against lever 52 which is acted on by both springs 96, 98 after lever 52 engages stop 72 until the pressure reaches a predetermined value, when the lever 52 pivots sufficiently to operate switch 10. As the pressure decreases, springs 96, 98 force levers 52, 54 clockwise until a stud 76 on lever 54 engages an adjustable stop 78 and when the pressure acting on the diaphragm is less than the force of spring 96, the lever 52 pivots and operates the switch in the other direction. A levelling screw 44 is provided.
