Abstract
1,010,963. Electrically operated windows. JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd. March 28, 1962 [April 24, 1961], No. 14686/61. Heading E2M. [Also in Division F2] A vehicle window is operated by a reversible electric motor 4 which drives a threaded shaft 2 through a torsionally flexible coupling 3, causing a nut 5, which is restrained from rotation, to move vertically. To prevent the nut jamming on the shaft, there is a torsion spring 10 held by a collar 11, fixed to the shaft, which spring carries a sleeve 8, having a shoulder 9 to engage a shoulder 7 on the nut. Other embodiments (not shown) comprise firstly a shoulderless nut with the torsion spring attached directly to it and carrying the shouldered sleeve on its lower end, the sleeve engaging a shoulder on the fixed collar, and secondly a shouldered nut engaging directly against a shouldered fixed collar. A second torsion spring, etc., may be provided at the top of the shaft.
