Abstract

A composition for coating metals comprises a mixture of 0.5 to 5 volumes of an epoxy resin powder and 9 volumes of a polyolefin powder. The polyolefin exemplified is polyethylene.ALSO:A metal surface is provided with a protective coating by spraying a polyolefin and, as bonding agent therefor, an epoxy resin on to the metal surface and curing the epoxy resin. The coating is applied either by first spraying on the epoxy resin and then the polyolefin followed by curing the epoxy resin or preferably by spraying a mixture of polyolefin and epoxy resin powders and then curing. In the examples a mixture of polyethylene and epoxy resin powders are sprayed on to preheated steel and brass plates and the coatings cured by heating.
