Abstract

1,000,243. Display stands. SCHENLEY INDUSTRIES Inc. Feb. 9, 1962, No. 5080/62. Heading G5C. [Also in Division B8] A display stand for bottles &c. 83 is formed from the carton 20 in which the goods are shipped by folding back cut and scored parts 46, 25 of the sides of the carton after the cover 84 has been removed. The combined shipping carton and display stand is assembled by first inserting a folded blank into the tray 20, tabs at the base being turned inwards. A pad 80 is then laid in the tray above the tabs to secure the blank in position. A partitioning divider 60 folded to bring wings 71 normal to panel 61 and assembled with further dividers 81, 82, Fig. 2, is inserted in the tray. As a display stand front wall 26 is folded down, the wall 35 being tucked beneath the tray. Sections 46 are folded outwards and punched portions 47 carrying slogans and the like are folded upwards. The dividers are removed and divider 60 manipulated so that wings 71 are folded rearward, and portions 70 forward, tabs 73 passing through slots 48, Fig. 1. In a further embodiment a divider is manipulated to engage a number of bottle necks in a display arrangement which supports an additional bottle above the others. In another embodiment the bottles are arranged in tiers by arranging panels having recesses for the tops and bottoms of bottles; and further integrally hinged panels which secure the top of the assembly (Fig. 12, not shown), when it is in the transit condition. One of the panels is swung up for display and includes a punched flap to lock the neck of a further bottle. As rows of bottles are sold parts of the supporting panels may be torn away along pre-scored lines. Trays may be used as an alternative to the panels.
