Abstract

1,093,691. Folding machines. LEIPZIGER BUCHBINDEREI MASCHINENWERKE VEB. Feb. 25, 1965, No. 8163/65. Heading B6H. In a combined folding machine consisting of one or more pocket or buckle folders 1, Fig. 1 (not shown), one or more blade folders 4, 7, and sheet transport means, the driving means for the various feeds and folders are adjustably interconnected so that sheets of different sizes can be fed without gaps; this is effected by an infinitely variable regulating transmission 16-23 and a singlerevolution shaft 26 carrying adjustably mounted cams 27, 28 for operating the blade folders and the shaft 16 operating the sheet transport means. The main shaft 26 makes one revolution per cycle and is coupled to a shaft 16 driving the sheet transport means and the pocket (buckle) folder 1 by the transmission 16-23 which comprises a V pulley 23, adjustable for wear, Fig. 3 (not shown), and a self-adjusting spring force V pulley 21 mounted on an arcuately adjustable shaft 20 in a rocking lever 17 terminating in a pointer 24 sliding on a scale 25 calibrated in relation to the sheet sizes to be used. In the shaft 26 are the cams 27, 28 which drive the blade folders 4, 7 respectively. Attached to the cam 28 is an aligning device 29-33 which enables synchronization of the folders. A further adjustment comprising shaft 36 and angular adjustment mechanism 37, 39, 40 adjusts the driving gear 36, which operates the mechanism associated with the timing of the release of the sheets in the feed feeder in relation to the operation of the blade folders.
