Abstract
1,093,538. Frequency shift oscillator. TELEFUNKEN PATENTVERWERTUNGS. G.m.b.H. Oct. 30, 1964 [Oct. 31, 1963], No. 44407/64. Heading H3R. A frequency shift oscillator comprises an oscillator 1 with frequency determining circuit 2 across which a capacitor 3 can be connected via by-pass capacitor 6 and the emitter-collector path of a transistor 4 which is switched into conduction by a keying voltage applied between terminals 11 and 12. Transistor 4 is connected as a reactance stage, capacitor 5 and resistor 9 developing a base voltage and hence an emitter-collector current which is 90 degrees out of phase with the voltage across the frequency determining circuit 2. This current, flowing through capacitor 3 develops a voltage in phase with the voltage across circuit 2 and the transistor circuit is dimensioned such that these voltages become equal, i.e. capacitor 3 is effectively connected across the circuit 2, when the D.C. voltage drop between emitter and collector is substantially zero. The accuracy of the two frequencies is not affected by transistor ageing or by variation in keying voltage above the value necessary to produce the above condition and the oscillator frequency varies linearly with keying voltage between the two values. In a second arrangement, Fig. 3 (not shown), a further similar transistor circuit is connected across the frequency determining circuit of the oscillator whereby the oscillator can be switched to operate at any one of four set frequencies.
