Abstract
1,083,753. Boring earth &c. STICHTING WATERBOUWKUNDIG LABORATORIUM. Sept. 20, 1965 (Oct. 2. 1964], No. 39954/65. Heading E1F. During taking a core, the core is surrounded by a hose knitted of threads such as nylon and the hose is impregnated with a liquid which forms a film and renders the hose non-stretchable and impervious to water. The film may be formed by the contact of the liquid with the ground water of the core and/or a further liquid. The hose and the liquid are initially contained in an annular chamber (3, Fig. 1) connected to the interior of the core-taking tube (1) by a slot (6) for the passage of hose and liquid. The further liquid (water) is supplied to the interior of the tube and also serves to support the sample. Vents (8) form a communication between the chamber and the tube interior. The leading end of the hose is closed and is pushed upwardly within the tube by a plastics plug (19 Fig. 2) initially separating the liquid and the further liquid which may be in accordance with Specifications 1,044,218 or 1,068,125.
