Abstract

108,097. Berry, H. H. Dec. 9, 1916. Imitation fires. - An effect resembling combustion is obtained in an electric radiator by oppositely rotating fans c carrying transparent coloured strips d. The fans are rotated by the heat from lamps b contained within a cage e which may be removably placed within an ordinary fire grate and upon which are mounted logs &c. bearing iridescent matter such as tinfoil, glazed paper &c. The logs are rendered fireproof by treatment with a solution of borax and boric acid in water. Electric heaters g may be attached to the front of the grate, and a vessel containing water may be placed in such a position as to become heated and allow the ascending steam to enhance the effect of combustion. Specifications 2546/15, [Class 39 (iii), Heating by electricity], and 104,533 are referred to.
