Abstract

1,079,888. Barrel clamps. F. T. PRODUCTS Ltd. Nov. 30, 1965 [Dec. 1, 1964], No. 48775/ 64. Heading E2B. A flexible strap fastening comprises an strap 11 having one face formed with a series of recesses 13 which extend transversely of the strap, but do not reach its edges, to form a series of transverse ribs 15 in the strap, and adjacent one end of the strap and projecting upwardly from the said one face of the strap, a latch portion 12 provided with an opening extending through the said latch portion in the direction of the length of the strap and a resiliently movable lug 21 projecting downwardly into the said opening and towards the said one face of the strap the other end portion of the strap being insertable through the said opening from the said one end of the strap and the said ribs being snap engageable passed the resiliently movable lug to latch the strap in any one of a number of positions in the latch portion and wherein the latch portion is formed with a manually movable release tag 22 connected to the lug so that the lug can be lifted out of engagement with the ribs in the strap. In the construction shown the end portion of the strap which is insertable through the opening is tapered and roughened to form a finger grip 16. The lug is formed with a camming surface facing the end through which the strap is inserted into the opening to enable the ribs to be more easily snap engaged passed the lug and there is a raised projection 24 formed on the surface of the strap adjacent the latch portion to lift the end portion of the strap away from the adjacent surface of the remainder of the strap as it passes through the latch portion. The strap is provided with an integral rivet 25 comprising a shank 26 and a break-off pin 27 which expands the shank when it is struck downwardly to secure the rivet in an aperture.
