Abstract

1,079,786. Clamps. W. R. BUSH. March 29, 1966 [April 22, 1965], No. 16996/65. Heading E2B. A clamp comprises two coaxial members one member being segmental and rotatable so that an inclined arcuate track thereon partly covers a groove in a surface of the other member. An insert 1b has surface grooves 5a, 5b, and an apertured casing 1a. Both the insert and casing are mounted on a headed pivot 3 coaxial with a clamping member 2 which has an inclined arcuate track 7. A backing plate 8 is secured to the insert by a screw 14 passing through the pivot. The clamp is secured to an article, a handle B by clamping the handle between blocks 9 on the clamp and clamp members 10 by two pairs of screws 11. The insert 1b is rotated to expose a groove 5a and the elongated object to be clamped is placed therein. The clamping member 2 is rotated by lugs 6 so that the surface of the track 7 wedges against the object clamping it therein. The insert may have a plurality of grooves on both surfaces of various sizes. The clamp may be duplicated, the insert members being mounted in back to back relationship.
