Abstract
A diagnostic reagent, suitable for pregnancy determination by agglutination with human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG), comprises an antibody for HCG adsorbed on the surface of polystyrene particles which are in suspension and have an average diameter of 0.15-0.60 microns. The antibody may be first formed by injecting an animal with HCG, subsequently bleeding the animal and recovering the elaborated antibody from the blood. By mixing a drop of urine with a drop of reagent, pregnancy is indicated by visible agglutination in 30-60 secs.
