Abstract
1,076,078. Transistor monostable circuits. HIRST ELECTRIC INDUSTRIES Ltd. Feb. 11, 1966 [April 26, 1965], No. 17498/65. Heading H3T. [Also in Division H2] A current transient detector comprises a monitoring means 11 responsive to a sudden change in the magnitude of an " external " current, e.g. in an electroplating or an electrolytic machining apparatus to apply an input signal to a monostable circuit which includes a relay 23 having contacts 23a in a feedback circuit 24 . . . 26. The means 11 may be coil which is placed in inductive relationship with a conductor of the protected apparatus and connected by a rectifier 12, a capacitor 13 and resistors 14, 15 to the monostable circuit which comprises normally non-conducting transistors 16, 22 of opposite conductivity types. Providing the pulse induced in the coil 11 by the sudden change in the current is of sufficient duration, both transistors are rendered conducting and the reed relay 23 closes its contacts 23a to render the feed-back circuit effective to apply a holding pulse which keeps the transistors conductive for a predetermined time even though the initial pulse has ended. The relay 23 also closes its contacts 23b, 23c to effect the interruption of the external current.
