Abstract

107,496. Riper, L. C. van. Aug. 11, 1916, [Convention date]. Valves.-A four-stroke-cycle engine having oppositely-moving pistons 3, 4 has its inlet and exhaust ports 8, 9 controlled by the conjoint action of a rotary cylindrical valve 6 and a sliding sleeve 5, the ported end of which is protected from heat by a depending liner 7. The rotary valve may have one or two ports in its periphery, its speed of rotation being determined accordingly. The exhaust and inlet ports are shown at 23, 24 re- Spectively.
