Abstract

Epoxy compounds are produced by reacting, in the liquid phase, an olefinically unsaturated compound having 2-4 carbon atoms in the olefinically unsaturated aliphatic chain with an organic hydroperoxide in the presence of a catalytic amount of a metal epoxidation catalyst in solution in the liquid reaction phase. The expression "organic hydroperoxide" does not include percarboxylic acids. The epoxidation catalyst must contain selenium or a metal other than an alkali or alkaline earth metal.
