Abstract

1,065,644. Ventilators; air conditioning operating theatres; lamps. UNION-CARBIDE CORPORATION. Oct. 29, 1963, No. 42563/63. Headings F4R and F4V. Sterile air is directed from a surgical lamp on to the same area as that illuminated by the lamp. The air may be passed to the lamp housing and ejected through openings in a lens or may be passed to an annular channel surrounding the housing and ejected as an annular convergent stream. Where air is passed through the housing a heat reflecting partition transparent to light may separate the air stream from the illuminating means in the housing. Where the lamp is used in an operating theatre a further supply of sterile air may be supplied throughout the theatre through perforations in a false ceiling.
