Abstract

1,058,890. Measuring voltage. INTERNATIONAL RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT CO. Ltd. Dec. 1, 1965 [Dec. 3, 1964], No. 49258/64. Heading G1U. The voltage on an insulated conductor (1) is measured by surrounding the conductor and a field sensing electrode (3) with a guard electrode (2), connecting the electrode (3) and guard (2) to the two input terminals respectively of a high gain amplifier (6), earthing one output terminal of the amplifier and connecting the other output terminal to the guard (2). The required voltage is measured on an A. C. voltmeter (10), or an oscilloscope connected across the amplifier output terminals.
