Abstract

Stationary batch-mixers with rotary stirrers.-In a machine for mixing asphalt, concrete, &c. and of the kind in which rotating radial arms carry yieldable mixing-blades, the blade 11 is carried by a vertical member 10 provided with two parallel and downwardly-inclined slots 8, 9 which receive runners 6, 7 carried by a forked bracket 2 on the radial arm 1. The lower slot 9 is slightly shorter than the upper slot 8 and its lower portion is curved downwards into the vertical. When the blade meets an obstruction, the member 10 rises in the bracket 2, and if the lower runner 7 is brought into the vertical portion of the slot 9, the member 10 is rocked and the underside of the lower portion of the upper slot 8 is forced against its runner 7 so that a downward force is exerted upon the blade 10 causing it to descend when the obstruction is passed. By means of a set-screw 12 carried by the bracket 2, the height of the blade 11 above the pan 1<x> can be adjusted.
