Abstract
In a flail-mower rotor, the flail-blades are carried by spindles which pass through apertures in plates secured to the rotor-shaft, there being different types of plate arranged in series along the shaft so that all the plates of one type have their apertures co-axial, the next series of plates having the spindles and blades angularly displaced from the adjacent series, whereby the blades are staggered around the axis of the rotor. The plates are substantially circular with apertured ears which extend either diametrically on either side of the plate or at 90 degrees to one another. At intervals, the various series of plates are interrupted by larger circular discs 23, 24 to which the spindles 28 are secured by pins 29. The various plates are welded in place on the rotor-shaft when assembled. The holes in the blades 27 have sufficient clearance on their spindles to permit lateral deflection of the blades.
