Abstract
1,053,467. Gangways. WOLLARD AIRCRAFT SERVICE EQUIPMENT Inc. Oct. 19, 1964 [Nov. 29, 1963], No. 42609/64. Heading B7J. A passenger gangway from a building 3 to an aircraft 5, Fig. 1, may pivot about a vertical axis through a stand 11 and may also pivot about a horizontal axis at right angles to the stand, and is provided with a powered swingable vestibule 13 movable on rollers and tracks, Figs. 11-14 (not shown), and a power-driven retractable supporting trolley 15 which may move about an arc with the stand 11 as centre. Stair 25 is of the articulated parallelogram linkage type, in which the step treads are pivotally interconnected with members at their front and rear edges to form sides of parallelograms, and to ensure that the foot of the stair is at ground level at all times cams 27 are provided. The underframe 33, Figs. 6, 7, and Fig. 5 (not shown) of the fluid motor propelled trolley 15 is supported by pairs of chaindriven wheels on bolsters 35 pivoted about bolts 41, vertical adjustment being made by screw jacks 43 and horizontal adjustment being effected by screws 47. The vestibule 13 swings about pivots 67 and 89, Fig. 10, and comprises flooring 73 supported by a frame 69 and roofing 91 carried by a frame 85. A hood 95 and curtains 97, Fig. 1, are provided to close the aircraft doorway.
