Abstract

1,051,735. Artificial teeth. NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION. May 6, 1964 [May 8, 1963], No. 18192/63. Heading A5R. [Also in Division C1] Teeth or parts thereof are made from a composition containing at least 60% by weight of alumina, titania, ziresnia or their mixture the remainder being silica by firing at 1300‹- 1750‹C. to sinter acid precrystallize the side without fusion. A layer of porcelain can be fired on to a core of the composition with a veneer covering; or the composition can be shaped to fit a metal post fitted to the root canal of a living tooth. A reinforced porcelain jacket crown containing a preformed backing of the composition can be obtained by making a model stump and forming a platinum matrix from the model applying a thin coat of pigmented porcelain to the palatal face of the matrix acid vibrating the backing into position. The body colour is built up on to the remainder of the matrix with porcelain, and the whole fired to give the crown.
