Abstract

1,051,244. Turbines; gas turbine plant. LICENTIA PATENT - VERWALTUNGS G.m.b.H. Oct. 9, 1963 [Oct.9, 1962], No. 39802/63. Heading FIT and F1G. An axial flow gas turbine has a stator structure consisting of axially adjacent rings 18 coaxially surrounding rings 19 which support stator blades 27 by a tongue and groove connection 35 with slight axial play. Rings 18, 19 are diametrically unsplit. Each ring 19 is supported from an outer ring 18 by angularly spaced radial pins 32 which provide freedom for radial expansion. Rings 18 are bolted together by an axially extending bolt 31. A steel wire 28 or band 29 may be used to assemble the blade rings, each blade being locked in position by a pin 30. Passages 23 in the rings 19 co-operate with cylindrical plates 22 to form a chamber 21 receiving coolant gas. Annular heat shields 20 reduce conduction through the rings 18 and thermal insulation may be provided between the rings 18 and shields 20. Rings 18 may form the turbine outer casing or may be surrounded by a further casing. In a modification, Fig. I (not shown), plates 22 and shields 20 are omitted and each outer ring and inner blade supporting ring may be integral.
