Abstract

1,043,874. Washing machines. CONSTRUCTA-WERKE G.m.b.H. March 6, 1964 [March 7, 1963], No. 9724/64. Heading D1A. In a washing and spin drying machine the washing tub 1 is connected with the container 9 for the spin dryer drum 8 by a duct 30 through which steam and foam formed in the tub pass to the container where they are deposited and discharged. The tub 1 contains an electric heater 4 and a washing drum 2 rotatable about a horizontal axis by a motor 6. Drum 8 is driven by motor 10. Water from a pipe 11 is supplied through valve controlled pipe 12 to tub 1, through valve controlled pipe 13 to flush detergent from tray 15 and through valve controlled pipe 16 to a sprinkler 29 between drum 8 and container 9. Pumps 18 and 21 pump liquid out of tub 1 and container 9 respectively through conduits 19, 20 and 22, 23 to waste. The elements are controlled by a time control 24 whose action is modified by thermostat 5. During washing when the washing water is boiling, steam and foam are evolved which flow through duct 30 and water is discharged from sprinkler 29 to condense the vapours, the condensate being pumped out by pump 21. Pressure in the spin dryer drops to suck in steam and foam. The nozzles 31 of sprinkler 29 cross one another so that the water jets act alternately on drum 8 and container 9.
