Abstract

1,041,772. Fluid pressure servomotor systems. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Dec. 5, 1962 [Dec. 6, 1961], No. 43715/61. Heading G3P. An electro-mechanical transducer comprises a valve piston 3 movable axially in response to an electrical signal to provide an output pressure signal at a port 14. Lands 9 and 10 on the valve piston control an exhaust port 6 and an inlet port 24 supplied with fluid pressure. The degree of of opening of these parts determining the signal pressure at part 14. A feedback is provided by a conduit 15, which may contain a restriction, providing for the signal pressure being fed to chamber 16 to act on the end of the valve piston. The opposite end of the piston may be provided with a fluid pressure loading. The valve piston is preferably provided with tapered lands as described in Specification 1,041, 771 and the inlet port 24 is substantially tangential to groove 5 whereby the valve piston is rotated by incoming fluid which also passes to an outlet 18. Passages 21, 22 also feed fluid to the opposite land 9 to provide a similar effect.
