Abstract

The device has a microprocessor (33) that is arranged to implement a time-shift function in a part of a recording medium such as buffer memory (31). The microprocessor includes an initializing unit for initializing the buffer memory such that the memory has a recording capacity equal to a fixed threshold. An analyzing unit is arranged for analyzing each reception of digital video data. An adjusting unit adjusts the recording capacity of the buffer memory to a value that is greater than threshold value in accordance with average speed of microprocessor. An independent claim is also included for a method for reception and recording of data on a recording medium.
