Abstract
The invention relates to a method for diagnosing a malfunction in a member (38) for controlling the supercharging of an internal combustion engine (1) with fresh air, said control member being driven in accordance with a set position and having an unmeasured actual position. According to the invention, the method comprises: a) a step of measuring the value of at least one variable which is characteristic of the operation of the internal combustion engine, and which is different from said set position and from said actual position; b) a step of estimating a difference between the actual position and the set position of said control member by performing a calculation on the basis of the value of each variable measured in step a); c) a step of comparing said difference with a predetermined threshold value; and d) a step of deducing the diagnosis of said control member in accordance with the result of said comparison.
