Abstract

Method of starting a data processing terminal (1) having a radiotelephony unit (11) in which the terminal, with the exception of a tele-loading program, has not any other application programs: A server (31) is called via the unit (11) for a particular application catalogue (32). A selection command is transmitted to the server for selection of a program from the catalogue. The program selected is tele-loaded into the terminal. The terminal transmits to the server its capacity characteristics and the serve only presents the catalogue of programs if they are compatible with the terminals capacity. The server stores in memory the selection made by the terminal. The unit (11) is used to tele-load drives allowing the terminal to communicate with external devices. The terminal has a radio unit (11) and removable battery block (12). The battery block has data processing means (13,16) designed to control tele-loading operating programs from a server into the terminals memory. (14).
