Abstract

A system for skimming pollutants from the surface of water has a multi-hull boat with a tank mounted beneath a bridge between the hulls. The mouth of an inlet of the tank can be raised and lowered by winches coupled to hooks. The inlet is an articulated flap. A float ensures the inlet is positioned below the level of the floating pollutants. Within the tank is another flap for closing the tank. Panels baffle liquid entering and moving within the tank. The whole tank may be raised and lowered by the winches. The bridge carries a front lookout, a navigation bridge, engine room, the winches and a pump for emptying the tank.

Claims (10)
