Abstract

The engine has a crankshaft (1) with webs (8, 80-85) extending perpendicular to its longitudinal axis (XX`). An electric machine e.g. starter, is provided inside the engine and has a rotor (11) fixed on the web (8) and a stator (12) fixed in a case (13) of the engine. The machine extends perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. Valves are opened to deactivate cylinders for decompressing the engine when vehicle propulsion is electrical. An independent claim is also included for a motor vehicle having a heat engine.
