Abstract

The cover, designed to fit over the roof, windscreen, side and rear windows of a motor vehicle, is made from a fabric (1) with a layer of a metallised film (4) attached to it. The fabric has elastic straps (2) sewn to its four corners, each strap being equipped with a hook, adjustable or not, that fastens to a wheel arch.

Description

i The present invention relates to a thermal protection which covers the

  roof and passenger compartment of parked motor vehicles to maintain a temperature

  pleasant inside and protect them from the aggressiveness of the sun's rays.

  The thermal protection of vehicles is traditionally carried out by a "sun visor" situated inside the vehicles against the windshield, or fixed by suction cups on the side windows, or actuated by a complex mechanical system. No overall solution is proposed and these protections do not considerably reduce the interior temperature and do not protect against the risk of alteration of the paintwork.

  The device in question overcomes these drawbacks. According to a first characteristic, it comprises a piece of fabric of rectangular shape on which a metallized film is stuck. The assembly can then be positioned on the passenger compartment of the vehicles, thus covering the roof, the windshield, the side windows and the rear window. This device, which therefore does not cover the entire vehicle, is maintained by means of elastic straps sewn onto the piece of fabric and fixed to the wheel arches by means of hooks. When the thermal protection is positioned on a vehicle, the sun's rays can no longer penetrate inside, thus preserving a pleasant temperature in the passenger compartment, while protecting it from

harmful effects of the sun.

  The accompanying drawings illustrate the invention:

  - Figure 1 shows the outer face of the thermal protection.

  - Figure 2 shows the internal face of the device.

  - Figure 3 shows the protection positioned on the vehicle. With reference to these drawings, the device comprises a main piece of fabric (1) made of synthetic material, and preferably polyester. It constitutes the external face of the device. It is rectangular in shape and variable in size depending on the size of the vehicles. A metallized film (4), either polyester or polyethylene, of dimension

  identical to or less than the previous part, is glued to it. This film, which has the property of reflecting the rays of the sun, constitutes the internal face of the device.

  Elastic straps (2), four in number, are sewn at each end of the piece of fabric. They are fixed on the wheel arches using adjustable hooks

or not (3).

  The device can then be positioned on vehicles (Figure 3). It thus maintains a pleasant temperature in the passenger compartment and protects roof paints, dashboard plastics, rubbers and seat coverings. Of

  variable dimensions, very light, space-saving, it can be easily installed and removed.

  The device according to the invention is particularly intended for the automotive equipment market.

  1) Thermal protection which is placed on the roof and the passenger compartment of parked motor vehicles, characterized in that it comprises a piece of fabric (1) on which a film (4) is stuck, the assembly being provided four elastic straps (2) provided   a hook, adjustable or not, at each end (3).   2) Device according to claim 1 characterized in that the film (4), of identical or smaller dimension to the piece of fabric (1), is made of polyester or metallized polyethylene and is stuck on it.   3) Device according to claim 1 or claim 2 characterized in that the   elastic straps (2) are sewn onto the piece of fabric (1).
