Abstract

The filter comprises a first reservoir (5) containing a filter cartridge and a second reservoir (2) on top of the first containing a filter regeneration product. Water is supplied to either reservoir, for purification or to dissolve the regenerating product. A valve (10) allow discharge of purified water or regenerating liquid. A valve (3) between the reservoirs opens under water pressure From bottom to top, the filter contains a reservoir (5) containing a filter cartridge for hard water or for a bulk product contained in the water to be filtered, fed with water to be filtered and closed at the top by a wall (8) with a retaining valve (3) which prevents the water from entering the reservoir, and a reservoir (2) above the first reservoir containing a product which regenerates the filter cartridge. This product is dissolved by water from the same source as the water to be purified which enters the first reservoir through the valve which opens under the pressure of the water in the second reservoir. A tube or direct outlet at the bottom of the first reservoir is controlled by a valve (10) to allow the purified water to leave through an outlet (E) or the regenerating liquid to leave through an outlet (F). A water feed system supplies water to be purified and water to dissolve the regenerating product and is connected to a water source (D and a valve (11). The second reservoir has a cover (1).
