Abstract

The filter consists of a housing (1) about 13 cm long by 12 cm in diameter, made e.g. from 50 per cent fiberglass and 50 per cent plastic for small engines and of stainless steel for commercial vehicles, having a stepped intake pipe (2) at one end for fitting into exhaust pipes of different sizes. The housing contains a filter cartridge (5) made from woven non-oxidizing metal fabric, and its outlet (3) is fitted to a detachable cover (4) for replacing the filter. The intake pipe is offset axially to allow the housing to be fitted between the vehicle bodywork and shock absorber.
