Abstract

The stop fits on to any public petrol pump to lock it in the open position. The block (1) may have a rectangular section and two cavities (2) - one formed in each end of the block. One of the cavities is intended to receive the petrol pump trigger (7) while the other fits against the outer frame of the pump handle (6). Two stops (3) ensure that the block remains in place whilst the pump is in use. A ring is attached to the end of the block, passing through a hole (4), enabling the block to be fastened to a key-ring and kept with keys when not in use. The ring may itself serve as a key-ring.

Description

- 1 - The present invention relates to an object for blocking the

trigger of the

  fuel pump when filling a vehicle's tank.

  The fuel tank openings are often set too low, making handling uncomfortable when we want to "keep an eye" on the price indicator. Some service stations have been fitted with small metal bars to wedge the handle. But, following several blunders from customers, these

had to be withdrawn.

  The device according to the invention overcomes these drawbacks.

  According to a first characteristic, it comprises a housing with a cavity at each end followed by a stop. These cavities allow the user to block the object between

  the fuel pump holder and the trigger.

  A slight pressure on the trigger will be necessary to set up the case.

  The stops located at the two ends of the device will ensure that the tool remains in place while filling the tank. After filling up with fuel, the user will remove the

  case by exerting a pressure on the trigger.

  Thanks to the ring located at one of the two ends, the tool will again become a keychain.

  With reference to these drawings, the device comprises a housing (1) the ends of which each have a cavity (2) having a rounded shape corresponding to the structure

  the pump support (6) and the trigger (7).

  The length between the two cavities (2) is 43 millimeters, which allows the tool to be

  adaptable to any fuel pump.

  After each cavity (2), two stops (3) 8.5 millimeters in length give the

  the tool is stable during filling.

  An orifice (5) pierced on either side of the object makes it possible to receive a ring (4) making it possible to put the case as a keychain when the latter is out of service. Due to the curve of the triggers (7), the optimum thickness is 10 millimeters while the length

  total is 60 millimeters maximum: the triggers having different strokes.

  The device according to the invention is particularly intended for pumps with

public fuel.

  1) Device for blocking the trigger of a fuel pump characterized in that it comprises a housing (1) having at each end a cavity (2) in which   come to rest on one side the pump support (6) and on the other the trigger (7).   2) Device according to claim 1 characterized by a stop (3) located at each end of the cavities (2) for holding the object in place when filling the   fuel tank of a vehicle.   3) Device according to claim 1 and 2 characterized in that the ring (5) and   the orifice (4) are an integral part of the object.   4) Device according to claim 3 characterized in that the ring serves as a holder key.
