Abstract

Multi-function spanner (key) device with alternate and independent adjustments for tightening nuts and wood screws or the like. It consists of a sliding sleeve 1 stabilised in its functional or non-used positions, but including a double profile 3 which gives the tool three successive separate functions per movable 4, lockable 6, 7 and built-in element. It is intended, starting from a single tool, to provide alternately tightenings and untightenings with distinct adjustments for ordinary nuts, hollow nuts on the one hand, and anchor bolt shanks or the like on the other hand, with integral encircling around their entire height of the driven surfaces.

Description

 Multi-function wrench device with alternating and independent settings for tightening nuts and wood screws or the like.

 It is intended starting from a single tool, to alternately provide tightening and loosening with separate settings for ordinary nuts, hollow nuts on the one hand, and lag bolts or other on the other hand, with integral strapping over their whole height of the entrained surfaces.

 It is known practice to use socket wrenches allowing the tightening of several elements, such as nuts, lag screws and the like, but they are constituted either by one-piece tools which cause the deformation of the imperfectly encircled clamping surfaces, or by adjustable elements with complex assembly and always imperfect stability with unstable calibration.

 The device according to the invention allows the key to be used in full for separate functions, that is. tightening nuts, either tightening profiled rods or lag bolts with a single tool, but with incorporated and retractable accessories sliding along the fixed carrying key, the lower sector of which is profiled with flat to avoid any rotational movement.

 It consists of a sliding sleeve, stabilized in its functional or inoperative positions, but comprising a double profile which gives the tool three successive distinct functions by movable, lockable and incorporated element.

 The sliding sleeve, FIGS. 1 and 2, consists of a cylinder 1, the base of which has an internal socket wrench profile 2 for normal nut, and an external tightening profile 3 for hollow or blind nut.

 The wall of the sleeve has a slide 4 into which a stop pin 5 of the upper and lower limit switches is introduced. It is provided with two dimples 6, 7 forming top and bottom locking with blocking ball 8 pulsed by a spring.

 This sleeve 1 goes up on the handle or the body 9 of a socket wrench with tightening profile 10 square or polygonal for the square rods of lag screws, wood screws or others.

 This square profile integrally circles the rod of the lag screw or the like over its entire height exactly like a simple key of current use and known with independent function.

 This integral pliers prevents deformation or "messing up" of the nut edges or the heads of the bolt or driven rods.

 When you want to use the key independently as an ordinary nut clamp, fig 3, you lower the sleeve 1, notch it on the top socket 6 and block it by the ball 8, only the sector 2 emerges, and use the key like an ordinary nut clamp, the faces of which surround all the heights of the surfaces to be driven.

 The external profile-3 can however be used for screwing and unscrewing hollow or cap nuts, such as water intakes or others.

 To transform the tool into a lag screw or similar, it suffices to reassemble the sleeve 1, arrow A, B, and notch it on the bolt 6 in the lower orifice 7.

 The lower part of the body 9 of the fixed key has a profiled sliding surface with a flat surface preventing any rotary movement of the sleeve 1.

 It is expected that the shapes, dimensions and arrangements of the various elements, as indeed the materials used for their manufacture may vary within the limit of equivalents without changing for this, the general design of the invention which has just been described.

Claims (2)

 10 Multi-function wrench device with alternating settings for tightening nuts and wood screws or the like. Its purpose is to allow to have on a single support two completely independent tools used alternately for their own and distinct functions in order to ensure the total stabilized strapping on all their faces and their heights of the wood screw rods, pulls -bottom or similar on the one hand, and normal nuts and hollow or cap nuts on the other hand, avoiding partial seizures causing crushing of the profiles and angular edges deteriorating the driven parts, characterized by the combination on the one hand of a movable cylindrical sleeve (1) comprising at its lower part a double internal (2) and external (3) profile, a socket wrench for nut with slide (1) for translation and guide and orifices (6, 7 ) locking up and down, and on the other hand a socket wrench with tightening profile (10) at its lower part forming a conventional socket wrench, the rod or body (9) of this fixed key is provided with a key (5) forming a guide and limit stop and a locking ball (6) pulsed by a spring.  2 Device according to Claim 1, characterized in that the rod (9) with incorporated socket wrench (10> forms the fixed support which can be used independently for a single purpose, that of tightening wood screws or lag screws and the like, while the movable and retractable sleeve (1) can only be used after its positioning as a normal nut wrench by its internal face, and a hollow nut tightener by its external face, meanwhile the socket wrench (10) being unusable.  30 Device according to claim 1 characterized in that the fixed key (9) has its lower sector of sliding of the profiled sleeve with flat preventing any rotational movement of the sleeve (1) around its support.
