La présente invention concerne un perfectionnement aux plateaux ou cagettes gerbables, réalisés en carton, et elle concerne également le procédé de mise en volume. Il est bien connu de réaliser des plateaux ou cagettes gerbables. De tels produits sont décrits notamme dans les documents FR-A-2.206.242, 2.268.699, 2.453.082. Ces plateaux sont constitués, d'une manière générale d'un fond entouré de quatre cotés avec, dans les angles, disposée verticalement, une portion qui sert de support au plateau supérieur ; cette portion prolonge soit le grand cote, soit le petit côté formant un pan coupé ou un arc-boutant, qui en même temps peut rigidifier l'angle du plateau. Des décrochements mâles et femelles disposés soit dans les angles, soit au centre des petits côtés permettent lors du gerbage, le verrouillage du positionnement horizontal des plateaux les uns par rapport aux autres.
