Abstract

The deflated bag (5) lies closely against a gas generator (13), inside the container (17) having two securing posts (15) with integral capping disks (16). The capped posts are passed through the enlarged ends of keyhole apertures (6) in the structural support plate (3). The container is then slid forward, trapping the rim (18) under the dashboard plate (22) and the caps (16) in the narrow ends of the keyholes, and then screwed (20) to an underlying panel. The container lid, covered in matching trim (12), and held-on by break-away rivets (19), flies clear when inflation is initiated by an impact sensor.
