Abstract

The invention relates to extracoronal and intracoronal attachments for dental prostheses and more particularly to interchangeable rings intended to provide for the connection, locking and articulation between the corresponding male and female parts. According to the invention, the ring (1) comprises, on its outer part, in a zone extending on each side of the equatorial plane (5), a recess (10) which is able to take up the diametral variations of the flexible walls of the said ring when the male part (2) passes through the said equatorial plane and is thus situated in a functional position in the cone (7) opposite the introduction cone (6).

Description

 The invention relates to extra and intracoronary attachments for dental prostheses and more particularly to interchangeable rings intended to ensure the connection, locking and articulation between the corresponding male and female parts.

 The subject of the present invention is a ring, made of biocompatible plastic material, plastic type, of generally cylindrical external shape, interchangeable, intended to simultaneously ensure the connection, the locking and the articulation between the male part and the female part of a extra or intracoronary attachment used in dental prosthesis.

 Said ring is characterized in that its hollow inner part is constituted by two cones, opposite by the vertices, intersecting, diabolo type, whose inside diameter, at the equatorial plane, is less than the outside diameter of the male part of the attachment.

The passage of the male part at the equatorial plane as well as its operation in the zone concerned e have the effect of deforming the material of the ring by compression (plasticity) with the risk of seeing its mechanical characteristics deteriorate over time.

 The present invention has the effect of modifying the mechanical characteristics of the ring for 'remedying this' drawback.

To this end, it relates to a ring which has, on its outer part, in the zone extending on either side of the equatorial plane, a recess capable of absorbing the diametrical variations of the flexible walls of said ring when the male part passes by said equatorial plane and is thus in a functional position in the cone opposite the introduction cone.

 The invention will now be described more clearly from the following detailed description of a preferred embodiment of the invention given by way of example only and shown in the accompanying drawings.

In these drawings - Figure 1 is a sectional view of the prosthesis using a patellar type attachment including the ring in question; - Figure 2 is a sectional view of the ring serving as a model.

The assembly shown comprises a ring (1), of plastic material,
flexible, interchangeable, internally diabolo, but having outside, in a zone extending on either side of the equatorial plane (5), a recess (10) capable of absorbing the diametrical variations of the flexible walls of said ring when the male part (2) passes through said equatorial plane and is thus in a functional position in the cone (7) opposite the introduction cone (6). The recess, which starts from a shoulder located a few millimeters from the top of the ring, may or may not extend to the other end of said ring. This also includes a longitudinal slot (8) intended to allow the passage of the rod (9) for holding the spherical part (2) of the male attachment, the latter also being able to have a disc shape.

The male part, which is made of burnable material, is cast simultaneously with the metal frame (11) of the joint prosthesis.

As for the female part (4) of the metallic prosthesis, inside which said ring will be housed, it is also produced by simultaneous casting with the assistant prosthesis (3).

 As for the method of implementing the prosthesis using the ring (1), it consists in using, to produce the metallic female part of the prosthesis inside which said ring will be housed, a ring (12) of dimensions identical but not comprising a recess, which will serve exclusively as a model for the production of the duplicate which will allow the production of the metallic female part.

 Of course, the invention is not limited to the embodiments described and shown for which we can provide other variants and extend it to other attachments without departing from the scope of the invention.

Claims (2)

 1- Ring (1), made of biocompatible plastic material, of generally cylindrical external shape, interchangeable, intended to ensure the connection and articulation between the male part (2), of spherical or disc shape, and the female part (4) an extra or intracoronary attachment used in dental prosthesis, characterized in that it comprises, on its inner part, two cones (6) and (7), opposite and intersecting, and, on its outer part, in a zone s extending on either side of the equatorial plane (5), a recess (10) capable of absorbing the diametrical variations of the flexible walls of said ring when the male part (2) passes through said equatorial plane and is thus in position functional in the cone (7) opposite the introduction cone (6).  2- A method of implementing the prosthesis using the ring (1) as defined in claim 1, characterized in that it consists in using, to produce the female part (4) of the prosthesis inside which will accommodate said ring, a ring (12) of identical dimensions but not having a recess, which will serve exclusively as a model for the production of the duplicate which will allow the production of the metallic female part.
