Abstract

It consists, firstly, in passing the fibres through a suction device fitted with a tube or end-fitting with suitable baffles or grids enabling the fibres to emerge with a flocky appearance. Secondly it consists in obtaining colorations starting from fibres of neutral colour which are coloured during their mixing with water and in obtaining gradations by an addition of the quantity of water mixed with the colorant whilst preserving, during the mixing with the fibres, only the quantity of water necessary. The invention is of interest for covering a very large number of surfaces.

Description

 The present invention relates to textile fibers with incorporated binder used as wall coverings, and relates to its modes of application.

 At present, there are several manufacturers of textile fibers on the world market for interior wall coverings. These fibers are sold in the dry state, already dyed, and are applied after having been wetted. However, these products, although of shimmering appearance and a reasonable cost price, are hardly used because of the difficulties of application and storage problems.

 A first difficulty arises during the preparation of the material, when it has to be wet. Indeed, the mechanical processes currently used to dissociate the fibers do not prevent the formation of lumps at the wetting stage. As a result, the projection of the material is difficult, and the result remains random.

 In addition, the materials currently sold on the European market are imported directly on colors, according to sampling palettes, the textile fibers being dyed during manufacture. The resulting drawback is a difficulty in supplying the desired color, and the need for a reseller to have a very large stock, comprising numerous ranges of colors, in order to be able to satisfy the needs of his customers. To this problem is added that relating to the delivery times that users face when they are out of stock.

 The invention remedies these drawbacks in that it makes it possible to obtain both a perfect dissociation of the fibers and of the colors from a same product, with the assurance of being able to find an identical color whenever necessary.

 The invention firstly consists of sucking the textile fibers using a vacuum cleaner provided with a tube or a nozzle comprising a device allowing the flakes to burst.

This device may consist of baffles or grids suitably combined. The textile fibers, after passing through this device, emerge in a flaky appearance and can then be wetted without the risk of formation of lumps; the paste remains homogeneous and the application is easy, without risk.

 The invention also consists in working exclusively on a raw product, of neutral color. The color is obtained by adding colors and fixatives at the time of use. Thus, on the one hand the professional - reseller can make supplies in large quantities, on the other hand the applicator can obtain colors at infinity.

 To overcome the risk of not obtaining a strictly identical color from one bath to another, the quantity of dye fibers and water remains identical for each bath.

 As on the one hand the ratio between the volume of water and the volume of the fibers must remain constant and as on the other hand it is difficult and relatively long to find for each bath exactly the same amount of dye, the gradations are obtained from the following way: the basic shade is the darkest in the chosen color; to obtain gradations, the volume of water mixed with the shade will be gradually increased; but when mixing with the fibers, only the required amount of water will be used, the excess being either rejected or reused.

 The invention in question is capable of particularly advantageous applications for the coating of a very large number of surfaces, such as plaster, wood, aerated concrete, polystirene sheets.

Claims (4)

 1- Method for obtaining a homogeneous paste, without lumps and colors both unlimited and invariable of textile fibers for use in wall coverings, characterized by the use of a specific vacuum cleaner and the dyeing of the fibers after their manufacture, when mixed with water.  2- A method according to claim 1 characterized in that the vacuum cleaner comprises a tube or a nozzle comprising baffles or grids specially adapted, and in all the carding possibilities using the air in any way whatsoever.  3- A method according to claim 1 characterized in that the textile fibers used are neutral in color and then dyed when mixed with water.  4- A method according to claim 3 characterized in that the proportions of water, dye and fibers are constant and in that the gradations of colors are obtained, from darker to lighter, by increasing the amount of 'tinted water, but by maintaining a quantity of tinted water each time equivalent for the same quantity of textile fibers during application.
