Abstract

The packing is of corrugated cardboard or other sheet material and it has a succession of panels (12), with parallel folding lines (13). The end panels are secured to each other by a flap (26) extending beyond a folding line (25). The end panels are parallel to the main folding lines (13) and one panel has a cutout gripping strip (27). The flap has the same width as the panel and so doubles its thickness when joined. The strip goes perpendicularly to the bending lines and beyond the panel from which it is cut.

Description

 The present invention relates generally to cardboard, corrugated cardboard or other sheet material, comprising a succession of panels successively articulated to one another by parallel fold lines.

 Such packaging is most often formed in one piece from a blank which is suitably cut and grooved for this purpose, in which the panels in question are aligned, in combination, laterally, with closure flaps suitable for their construction. funds, and it is usually delivered flat to users, in the form of a packaging blank resulting from the sheath closure of such a blank and the joining together of the end panels that it comprises.

 To this end, one of these extreme panels is usually extended beyond a fold line parallel to that by which it is articulated to the adjacent panel, by a fastening flap capable of being fastened, for example by gluing , to the other of said end panels.

 In practice, to date, such a fastening flap is most often of very limited extension, less than that of the smallest of the end panels, and is reduced to a simple tongue or fastening strip of small width, just sufficient to the solidarity sought.

 The present invention relates more particularly to the case of packaging of the type concerned in one of the panels from which a gripping strip is precut, to facilitate handling.

 Cutting in a panel of such a gripping strip is not without weakening the mechanical strength thereof.

 The stacking behavior of these packages can be affected, especially when the load they contain is relatively heavy.

 The present invention generally relates to a provision making it possible to avoid this drawback and also leading to other advantages.

 More specifically, it firstly relates to packaging made of cardboard, corrugated cardboard, or other sheet material, of the kind comprising a succession of panels successively articulated to each other by parallel fold lines. , hereinafter referred to as the main fold lines, the end panels of said succession of panels being joined to one another by a joining flap which extends one of them beyond a line of folding parallel to said main folding lines, with a pre-cut strip in one of said panels, a gripping strip, this packaging being characterized in that, in combination, the pre-gripping strip is pre-cut in one of the end panels, the securing flap extends the other of said end panels, and said securing flap has an extension substantially equal to that of the previous one, so that, doubling in thickness the panel affected by the gripping strip, it constitutes a flap of reinforcement for this; it also has for its object a blank and a corresponding blank for packaging.

 Thanks to the arrangement according to the invention, the weakness inherent in its cutting, the panel in which a pre-gripping strip is precut is advantageously compensated.

 Despite having such a gripping band, the packaging according to the invention therefore has excellent resistance to stacking, capable of allowing palletization, even when it contains a relatively heavy load.

 In addition, it is possible, if desired, to provide this packaging with two parallel gripping bands, on the same panel, without disproportionately affecting the mechanical strength of the latter, thanks to the strengthening flap reinforcing according to the invention this sign.

 Although the inherent mechanical resistance of a gripping band, taken in isolation, is generally sufficient to satisfy the heaviest loads, the presence of two gripping bands is likely to advantageously improve the convenience of gripping and the lifting of the packaging according to the invention, in particular in the case of such a heavy load.

 Finally, they illustrate, by way of example, the application of this packaging to the packaging of a flexible container 11.

 This container 11 is not part of the present invention, it will not be described in detail here.

 Usually, the blank 10 comprises, in one piece, an aligned succession of side panels 12, successively articulated to each other by parallel transverse fold lines 13, here said for convenience main fold lines .

 As regards, as mentioned above, the constitution of a generally parallelepipedic package, four side panels 12 are provided.

 In the embodiment shown, there are thus two side panels 12 of greater width L, and alternately with these, side panels 12 of smaller width 1.

 On a first side of the aligned succession which they form, there is articulated, at least in some of the side panels 12, beyond a fold line 15 perpendicular to the main fold lines 13, a closure flap 16.

 In the embodiments shown, such a closing flap 16 is hinged to each of the side panels 12.

 Similarly, in these embodiments, it is hinged to each of the side panels 12, on the other side of the aligned succession that they form, a closing flap 17, beyond a fold line 18 perpendicular to the main fold lines 13.

 According to arrangements which, not forming part of the present invention, will not be described in more detail here, one of these closing flaps 17 has, in its central area, an opening 20, and an element is associated with it wedging 21, from which it is separated by a connecting tongue 22, and which, itself having a recess 24, is extended by a securing tongue 23, for its securing, as will appear below, to the panel side 12 corresponding.

 Beyond a fold line 25 parallel to the main fold lines 13, one of the extreme side panels 12 is extended by a fastening flap 26 suitable for enabling, as described below, the fastening to the other side panel 12 end, for the sheath closure of the assembly.

 Finally, in one of the side panels 12 is pre-cut a gripping strip 27, suitably doubled, on the internal face of the blank 10, by a reinforcing strip 28, said gripping strip 27 affecting, in practice, full thickness on said side panel 12.

 According to the invention, and in combination, the gripping strip 27 is precut in one of the end 12 side panels, the securing flap 26 extends the other of said end 12 side panels, and said securing flap 26 has an extension substantially equal to that of the previous one, that is to say that of the extreme side panel 12 in which the gripping strip 27 is precut.

 In practice, in the embodiments shown, the fastening strip 27 is precut in the extreme side panel 12 of smaller width 1, and the fastening flap 26 therefore has a width substantially equal to that 1 of this side panel 12 extreme.

 Furthermore, in the embodiment shown in FIGS. 1 to 7, the gripping strip extends substantially perpendicular to the main fold lines 13, and it extends beyond the extreme side panel 12 which it affects, on either side of the corresponding fold lines delimiting the latter.

 It is, on the one hand, the main fold line 13 by which this extreme side panel 12 is articulated to the adjacent side panel 12, and on the other hand by a fold line 30 which is parallel to the main fold lines 13, and beyond which said end side panel 12 itself extends by a securing tongue 31.

 Thus, in this embodiment, for securing to one another the end side panels 12, there is both a securing flap 26, which extends the end side panel 12 opposite to that comprising a strip gripping 27, and a securing tab 31, which extends the side panel 12 end comprising said gripping strip 27.

 In addition, in its central area, it is affected by half-moon cutouts 29 on either side of the gripping strip 27, to facilitate gripping of the latter.

 Finally, in the embodiment shown, the fold line 25 delimiting the securing flap 26 of the extreme side panel 12 which it extends is, in its middle zone, interrupted locally by a cutting line 32, which is substitutes for said fold line 25 on a portion thereof, and which delimits the section of tongues 34,; 5 respectively cut, perpendicular to the main fold lines 13, on the one hand in said securing flap 26, and d on the other hand, in said extreme side panel 12, and, in line with its tongue 34, the securing flap 26 has, on its oposed free edge, a notch 36.

 After gluing of the securing tab 24, as shown diagrammatically by hatching in FIG. 1, the wedging element 21 is folded against the closing flap 17 which it extends, FIG. 2A.

 By the securing tab 23, the wedging element 21 is thus, by gluing, secured to the corresponding side panel 12.

 That of the extreme side panels 12 which is extended by the securing flap 26 is, then, with this securing flap 26, folded against the other side panels 12, FIG. 2B.

 After gluing of the other side panel 12 end and the securing tab 31 extending it, as shown schematically by hatching in Figure 2B; this end side panel 12 and this securing tab 31 are folded over the previous ones, FIG. 2C, said gluing of course sparing the gripping strip 27.

 There is thus constitution of a packaging blank 37, in which the end side panels 12 are joined to one another by gluing, both by the joining flap 26, which is glued to the side panel. 12 end comprising the gripping strip 27, on the internal face of the latter, only by the securing tab 31, which is glued to the other side panel 12 end, on the external face thereof.

 In addition, doubling in thickness the end panel 12 end affected by the gripping strip 27, the securing flap 26 advantageously constitutes, according to the invention, a reinforcing flap for this side panel 12 end.

 The packaging blank 37, which is available flat, constitutes, in a manner known per se, a sheath capable, at its place of use, of being immediately set in volume, by simple pushing on its main fold lines 13 opposite, as shown schematically by the arrows F in FIG. 2C.

 After such a setting in volume, and after closing, by the closing flaps 16, of the volume then delimited by the side panels 12, the container 11 can be set up, FIG. 3A, this setting up taking place before or after the filling of this container 11.

 I1 then suffices to also fold the closing flaps 17 square, after proper gluing thereof, FIG. 3B.

 As illustrated in FIGS. 4 to 6, the securing flap 26 advantageously reinforces, over almost its entire surface, the extreme side panel 12 from which the gripping strip 27 is cut, and, thus, it advantageously compensates the weakness of this panel inherent in its cutting.

 In addition, it advantageously ensures the sealing to the right of the half-moon cutouts 29 flanking the gripping strip 27.

 To deploy the handle in FIG. 7, it suffices, in a manner known per se, to grasp it between the fingers, using the half-moon cutouts 29, and to pull it towards you.

 As will be understood, thanks to its tongue 34 and its notch 36, the securing flap 26 is not opposed to such deployment of the gripping strip 27, and it is the same for the side panel 12 extreme adjacent, thanks to its tongue 35.

 In the variant embodiment illustrated in FIG. 8, the gripping strip 27 extends parallel to the main fold lines 13, biting onto the corresponding closing flaps 16, 17.

 There is therefore no need for a fastening tab 31, and the fastening - one to the other of the end side panels 12 is done by the only fastening flap 26.

 In the embodiment illustrated in FIG. 9, two similar gripping bands 27 are provided on the same panel on the extreme side 12, parallel to one another.

 Of course, the present invention is not limited to the embodiments described and shown, but encompasses any variant embodiment and / or combination of their various elements.

Claims (5)

 1. Packaging made of cardboard, corrugated cardboard, or other sheet material, of the kind comprising a succession of panels (12) successively articulated to each other by parallel fold lines (13), said below for convenience. main fold lines, the end panels of said succession of panels (12) being secured to one another by a fastening flap (26) which extends one of them beyond a fold line (25) parallel to said main fold lines (13), with, pre-cut in one of said panels (12), a gripping strip (27), characterized in that, in combination, the gripping strip (27) is precut in one of the extreme panels (12), the securing flap (26) extends the other of said panels (12) ex very, and said securing flap (26) to an extension substantially equal to that of the previous one, so that, doubling in thickness the panel (12) affected by the gripping strip (27), said solidarisatio flap n (26) constitutes a reinforcing flap for the latter.  2.
