Abstract

The underground litter receptacle (E) is associated with two hoardings, two flashing lights for pedestrians and a footway illuminating light fitting. The three components form a grouped assembly, but can be installed separately. The bottom component is connected to the litter receptacle by a 300 x 200mm duct. Access to the receptacle is gained by a sewer type manhole in the carriageway, the manhole also facilitating the emptying of the receptacle by a road-sweeping vehicle or similar. The flashing lights are orange in colour and operate simultaneously and the light fitting is coupled to the street lighting system.
