Abstract
The fault current switch has a pair of separable contacts (13,14) and a resistance (22) with a positive temp coefficient coupled in parallel with the latter, for providing a contact bridge upon initial separation of the contacts (13,14). A voltage-dependant resistance (23) is pref connected in parallel with the positive temp coefficient resistance (22) for providing a shunt path when the voltage across the latter resistance (22) reaches a given value. The voltage-dependant resistance (23) is pref formed of silicon carbide or a metal oxide.
