Abstract
a. Coating of hard material which has a high wear resistance and a decorative black colour which is specific to it. b. Characterised in that, as intermediate layer, a first layer of an element from Groups IVa, Va of the Periodic System of the elements is deposited, then a layer of nitride of this element and finally a layer of carbide of the same element and, as covering layer, a hard layer of carbon (iC) in which crystallites of the carbide of the intermediate layer are incorporated. c. The invention relates to a coating of hard material which has a high wear resistance and a decorative black colour which is specific to it.
