Abstract
A solar energy collector comprises an absorbent part in agglomerated material composed of pulverised slates bound by synthetic resins making it impermeable to fluids a special glazing, an insulation and a support frame in the same material as the absorbent part. A hollowing in the form of a coil is made in the centre of the absorbent part for the heat transfer fluid to circulate. The collector allows a fluid e.g. water to be heated for domestic or industrial uses and allows a regularly rising or falling curve of temp. to be obtd. without sudden fall however much sunshine there is, or whatever the external temp. is. It allows utilisation of existing slate wastes which exist in large quantities in some regions. The extra cost of replacing a part of the roof of a dwelling with the device is not great, and the existing framing can be used.
