Abstract
The heat pump unit includes a casing (1) enclosing two compartments (2a, 2b) separated by an internal wall (3). The first compartment has an opening (4) taking air from rooms, and a second opening taking in air from the surroundings. This may take air from an attic or loft, or from outisde. An outlet (6) is also provided in this compartment. A refrigerating plant (7) is also situated in the first compartment, along with condensers (8, 9) for central heating water, and domestic hot water heating respectively. An evaporator (10) lies in the first compartment to absorb heat from the air flowing through, the flow being assisted by an extraction fan (11). Water pumps (14, 17), the expansion chamber (15) and the central heating control (16) are situated in the second compartment. Water is piped to the central heating system (19, 20), and to a hot water tank (22) supplying hot water to outlets (24). The main water supply enters the bottom of the tank (26).
