Abstract

Leaks from high-pressure pipe joints can be prevented by injecting sealing compound between the joint flanges (3). Two half rings (5) are fitted between the flanges and secured by tangential bolts. The faces of these half rings have a series of concentric ridges to retain the sealing compound. Two small cocks (9) are fitted to the periphery of each half ring, in order to inject the sealing compound and to retain it after injection. An alternative method uses half rings wh ich fit around the periphery of the flanges.
