Abstract
The ignition system detects when a lean air/fuel mixture i.e. over-stoichoimetric mixture with too little fuel, is present in the engine's combustion space. The detector's output causes the computer controlling the engine to initiate the generation of advanced ignition pulses. The detector consists of a device that detects when the fuel inlet pipe has been closed. The detector's output changes only slowly when the fuel supply returns. The detector may also detect when the engine starts by sensing its rotation. An adder is used to adjust the ignition pulses.
