Abstract
is stabilised by >=0.025 generally 0.05-5 pref. 0.1-2 wt.% of an epoxidised alkyl ester derived from a 12-20C carboxylic acid and a 3-12C pref. 3-8C alcohol. The 1,1,1-trichloroethane can also contain genrally =4 wt.% of >=1 classic stabilisers i.e. organic nitrates, nitriles, nitroalkanes, 3-6 membered-ring cyclic ethers, amines, alcohols, alkyl esters and ketones. A conc. soln. contg. 20-70 wt.% epoxidised alkyl ester and possibly >=1 other classic stabiliser in 1,1,1-trichloroethane can be used to add to the 1,1,1-trichloroethane to give the required concn. of stabiliser. Stabilised 1,1,1-trichloroethane is used, in the liq. or vapour phase, in the cleaning of metallic and other mfd. prods.
