Abstract

A rectangular channel section (1) may be used as a cableway for building services, being provided in standard lengths joined by intersliding end formations. Once the sliding connection is made axial fixity of the conjunctive lengths is provided by a bolt or a clip. The legs (3, 4) of the section may have their edges returned externally in hook formations (3a, 4a), the hook being removed in an end zone (11, 12) of one leg. An open ended slot (13, 14) in the angle beneath the plain edge provides a tenon, the edge (11, 12) sliding axially into the hooked edge (4a, 3a) of an adjacent length to make the joint. The joint may be secured by a nut and bolt through aligned slots (9) in the webs (2), or by a 'U' clip (16) with ribs (17a, 18a) entering aligned slots in the legs.
