Abstract

The wheel is immersed so as to be several centimetres below the float (4) when vertically below it. The wheel consists of a hollow shaft (1) through which air is fed to the floats. The floats are connected to the shaft by hollow arms (2). On each arm is a valve (3) to regulate the supply of air to the float. The floats are closed at each end by a pivoting flap (5A,5B). The rear flap of the two has a flap valve (6) to let out water driven by air entering the float.
